Embroidered jeans

Yea a project for me! And I actually finished it. I followed this tutorial on Urban Threads for Versace knock of jeans.

I don’t wear much gold, so I substituted metallic silver gold instead. I found a great pair of stretch jegging/skinny jeans at the Goodwill for $8 to try this design out on.

I tried really hard to not have to rip out the inseam because I’m lazy, but I could not figure out a way to do it even on my big embroidering machine:( I decided I wanted to wear these bad boys to my school’s fashion show, so I got over my laziness and got to work ripping the seams. I used a mesh iron on cut away stabilizer since these are stretch skinny jeans. I also floated a piece of tear away stabilizer (not hooped) in between the hoop and throat plate of the machine. I sewed a bit slower than normal (700 spm) just because I was worried about the metallic thread breaking. I also used sewer’s aid (I believe that is what it is called) on the needle.

I wish I would have moved the design up closer to the pockets. I had to use the largest hoop (8×12″ I believe) not remembering the design was only 6×10″ and wouldn’t fill the whole hoop. Oh, well maybe next time. I’m pretty happy how these turned out! What do you think? I’d love to see what other people do.
